Manila — Feb 2026

Manila announces itself slowly — first the towers crowding the Pasig, then the traffic, then the sheer density of everything happening at once. Four days here had a shape: one anchor event, and a city to fill in around it.

Friday — settling in

We checked into an Airbnb at Acqua Private Residences in Mandaluyong on Friday, riverside towers with the whole city laid out from the windows. Bags down, the first move was a short walk along the water to Riverwalk Cafe — a cup of coffee, the Pasig sliding by, and that quiet first afternoon where a trip hasn’t quite started yet. We let it stay slow on purpose; Saturday was going to be the opposite.

Saturday — the big day

The reason for the whole trip: the Filipina Meet app launch at Rockwell Center in Makati, all glass and clean lines and the hum of a room dressed up for a reveal. With the main event behind us, the rest of the day spilled out the way Manila Saturdays do — a UAAP game between the De La Salle Green Archers and the FEU Tamaraws, rival sections trading chants across the arena, then sizzling plates at Pepper Lunch in SM Mall of Asia to cap it off.

Sunday & Monday — winding down

Sunday went playful at Art in Island in Cubao, barefoot through room after room of 3D trick-art built to be posed with. Monday eased the trip to a close at Mary Grace — warm ensaymada, thick hot chocolate, no itinerary left to chase — before the trip home.
