Some trips are about the destination; this one was about the city itself. Three easy days in Davao with no grand itinerary — just a home base, good food, and time to wander between them.
Base camp
We set up at a BnB in NorthPoint by Camella, a quiet residential subdivision tucked away from the traffic — tidy streets and the hush of a neighborhood, the kind of place you’re glad to come back to each evening. Bags down, the rest of the trip arranged itself around meals and short hops across the city.
Eating through the city
Davao runs on its food, and we leaned in. Coffee and an hour of focus at the Starbucks inside SM Lanang Premier on J.P. Laurel Avenue. A heavier detour to Zark’s Burgers at SM City Davao for one of those teetering, oversized stacks. And the standout: unlimited fried chicken at Wingboss on Mamay Road in Buhangin — baskets of it, hot and crackling, refills landing until you finally wave the kitchen off.
A break above the mall
The one proper “activity” was an afternoon at Altitude, the rooftop entertainment zone crowning SM Lanang — arcade lights and claw games inside, open-air rides out on the sky park, and a breeze that kept the Davao heat from ever feeling like work. Tickets counted, traded in, and that was the trip: short, well-fed, and easy.
